McDowell Titans head basketball coach Lloyd Church will have one more game ahead of him after the Titans play their final contest of the season.
Church has been chosen to coach the North Carolina squad against South Carolina in the annual Carolinas Classic All-Star Game set for March 20, 2010 at Socastee High in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Church has coached in the East-West and Blue-White games in North Carolina, but felt especially honored to be chosen to represent the entire state.
"This is the Shrine Bowl of basketball games," said the 21st-year head coach. "I was stunned. That's the highest honor you can get around here. I was humbled by it. I'm looking forward to representing the state."
Church (347-197) is the winningest boys basketball coach in McDowell High history. His teams have won three Northwestern 4A regular-season championships and six NW4A tournament titles, and have won 20 or more games six times.
