Fans get break on basketball tickets

»  Comments | Post a Comment

As was the case in football, ticket prices to McDowell Titans and Lady Titans basketball games are going up this season.
And as was the case in football, McDowell High is offering several avenues for fans seeking a discount.
Tickets will cost $6 at the door this season, up $1 over last year. McDowell is in its first season in the Mountain Athletic 4A/3A Conference, and the league mandates a $6 fee. But fans can still come out substantially cheaper than that.
The school is offering basketball booster memberships good for all 11 regular-season home games, excluding the Lady Titans' benefit game versus the Frankston Blues (Australia) on Jan. 2 and playoff games. Membership fees are $45 for adults and $30 for school-age children.
Booster memberships must be purchased before the basketball season starts. McDowell's opener is set for Tuesday, Nov. 24 at home against Marion Christian Academy. Booster memberships must be paid for in cash. They may be purchased at the team's parent meeting, in the main office of the school Monday, Nov. 3 through Friday, Nov. 13 and at the scrimmage games at home Saturday, Nov. 21.
In addition, game-day tickets for McDowell County students will also be available and will cost $5. The tickets will be on sale at all McDowell schools during regular school hours on game days, and students can purchase additional tickets for family members at the $5 rate.
McDowell High is also offering business sponsorships. Participating businesses get a banner advertising the business as a supporter of Titan athletics. The banners will be on display at all home football and basketball games. Businesses also get two athletic passes good for all home athletic events, excluding NCHSAA endowment games and postseason games. Business sponsorships are $375 the first year and $300 every year thereafter.
Those interested in a business sponsorship should contact Susan Webber at 652-7920.
Also, seniors ages 65 and older are eligible for a Silver Pass, which provides free admission to all Titan athletic events. Those interested should also contact Susan Webber.
All employees of McDowell County schools will be admitted free to all regular-season home athletic events. But there will no longer be free admission for an employee's spouse or family members.
