Marion Christian Academy basketball standout Johnny Wrenn has signed a scholarship to play at Milligan College in Tennessee.
Wrenn, a versatile basketball player and an outstanding student, will receive scholarships for both athletics and academics, according to his father, John.
A three-year varsity starter and a three-time first team All-Blue Ridge Christian Conference selection, Wrenn was named the league's Player of the Year after leading the Knights to a second straight BRCC championship and a third consecutive appearance in the National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) final four. Wrenn made the NACA all-tournament team two years in a row as well.
The 6-foot-3 Wrenn - who played all five positions during his high school career and spent the majority of his senior year at point guard - averaged 16 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 4.3 steals and 1.6 blocks last season.
Wrenn finished his stellar prep career with 1,012 points, 692 rebounds, 229 assists, 199 steals and 130 blocked shots. He was named the team's MVP after both his junior and senior years.
During Wrenn's final two seasons, Marion Christian compiled a 53-13 overall record. The Knights also improved their national finish - from fifth to fourth to third - in Wrenn's three varsity campaigns.
Wrenn also carried a 3.85 grade point average at MCA.
Milligan is a member of the NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference. Bill Robinson is the head coach of the Buffaloes, who went 10-21 last season.
