A man who killed himself at a gas station in Georgia is the suspect in the double-shooting in Mount Airy, authorities said today.

Sean Bowman, 25, of 247 Holly Ave. in Mount Airy, is believed to have killed a man and a woman at his home yesterday, Surry County Sheriff Graham Atkinson said.

Atkinson identified the male victim as Mark Edward Hall Jr., 21, of Pinnacle.

Atkinson said authorities have not confirmed the identity of the second victim. He said that she appeared to be in her early 20s. The bodies of both victims were sent to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for autopsy.

Atkinson said investigators were still trying to figure out the relationship between Bowman and the victims and what could have led to the shootings, which occurred about 5 p.m.
"Obviously they knew each other," Atkinson said. "It appears they were all over at the house hanging out."

Police in Lavonia, Ga., said they found the body of a man at an Exxon station off of Interstate 85 about 10 p.m. Thursday night. Lavonia is near the Georgia/South Carolina border.
The man died from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, said Brooks Moorhead, an assistant chief in the Lavonia Police Department.

Moorhead said police there had talked with Surry County investigators last night about the discovery of the body.

Those talks went into the early morning hours, Atkinson said.

Bowman lived with his parents, but they were not at home at the time of the shooting, Atkinson said.
