An Old Fort man faces multiple charges after a recent raid of his home turned up illegal drugs, a gun and money, authorities say.
In a separate incident, a Marion man faces drug-related charges after a routine traffic stop.
Lt. Shanon Smith of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office charged Keith Dwayne Morgan, 34, of Marigold Drive with one felony count each of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine and maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
Smith said a search of Morgan's residence on Wednesday, Dec. 16 yielded 5 grams of crack cocaine, 2 ½ ounces of marijuana, a 9mm handgun and $590 in cash.
"This is a known crack cocaine area," the lieutenant stated. "We had been receiving information that he was selling crack from his residence."
Officers with Marion and Old Fort police departments aided sheriff's deputies with the search.
In another case, Deputy B.P. Crisp of the Sheriff's Office charged Anthony Douglas Ross, 20, of Baldwin Avenue with possession of marijuana; possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance; expired registration card or tag; fictitious, canceled, revoked or altered registration card or tag; and manually entering multiple letters and text while driving. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $35,000 bond.
On the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 22, Crisp was patrolling on U.S. 70 and spotted a black Chevrolet truck traveling west without its lights on and the driver was texting, according to Sheriff's Office reports. The truck also had a fictitious tag.
Crisp stopped the vehicle and Ross, the driver, gave him consent to search it.
The deputy located nearly one-half pound of marijuana, the reports stated.
Ross told Crisp that the truck belonged to his friend, said the reports.
