A Marion man was jailed last week after authorities say he assaulted his wife and choked her with a lamp cord.
Deputy Ronnie Harvey of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office charged Harrison Bascombe Hensley, 51, of Rolands Chapel Road with one felony count of assault by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of assault on a female.
Capt. Ricky Crisp said deputies were called to the home of Harrison and Gloria Hensley last Thursday night in reference to a woman lying in the front yard with injuries to her face, neck and hands.
A witness told officers that Harrison Hensley assaulted his wife then fled into the woods behind their house, according to the captain.
Reports stated that the couple got into an argument, at which time Harrison hit Gloria, choked her with a lamp cord, pulled her down the stairs and outside the residence and struck her with a glass object.
Gloria was taken to The McDowell Hospital.
Deputies apprehended Harrison in the woods and charged him that night.
Crisp said alcohol was involved.
