Sheriff Dudley Greene is traveling again.
This week, McDowell's top cop starts his second round of community meetings.
He made a trip to each fire and/or school district earlier this year to meet with the citizens he serves.
Greene's intention, he said in an earlier interview, is to visit each community twice a year.
"People will be able to voice their concerns, their needs, their ideas," Greene previously stated. "I want to hear from them about how we can help in each community, about the individual problems in their community. I can also share with them what we have going on in the department. I envision having an open forum then people can talk privately with me if they need to."
The upcoming meeting schedule is as follows: Thursday at Woodlawn-Sevier Volunteer Fire Department; Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Dysartsville Volunteer Fire Department; Thursday, Nov. 12 at P.G. Elementary; Tuesday, Nov. 17 at Sugar Hill-Montford Cove Volunteer Fire Department; Thursday, Nov. 19 at West Marion Elementary; Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Ashford Community Building in North Cove; Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Old Fort Elementary; Thursday, Dec. 3 at Nebo Elementary; and Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Glenwood Elementary. All meetings will begin at 7 p.m.
The sheriff added that he's available at the department most days, but he realizes the majority of people work and don't have the opportunity to meet with him during work hours.
"These are just open forums with me to see how the department can better serve individual communities," he said.
