Authorities arrested a Marion man they say was cooking meth in his home.
They've also charged two others who faced outstanding drug-related offenses.
Agents with the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation charged Brian Keith Greene, 38, of Waycaster Road with two counts of possession of an immediate precursor chemical used to manufacture methamphetamine and one count of manufacturing methamphetamine. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $40,000 bond.
Lt. Shanon Smith of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office said investigators received information that Greene was involved in making the drug, so they raided the residence in which he lived at the time on Sunny Street.
He added that they found evidence of a meth-manufacturing lab in the house.
In a separate case, Smith charged Lawrence Howard Carroll Jr., 67, of Thunder Cloud Drive in Nebo with two counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and one count each of selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance, maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance and possession with intend to sell and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Authorities stopped Carroll's vehicle on the bypass near Tate Street Friday. They knew the Sheriff's Office held outstanding drug warrants on him.
Smith said an undercover officer bought pills from Carroll in April of this year. He was wanted for selling and delivering morphine pills, possession with intent to sell and deliver and maintaining a place to keep a controlled substance.
During the suspect's arrest Friday, officers located three more dosage units of the morphine and 35 dosage units of an anti-anxiety drug, according to the lieutenant.
In another case, Detective Jason Grindstaff of the Sheriff's Office charged Mickey Dean Lewis, 22, of Madac Drive in Marion with one count each of felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Grindstaff stated that, on June 25, Sheriff Dudley Greene was following Lewis' vehicle on Sugar Hill Road at Veterans Drive. Lewis was driving recklessly, struck a curb and blew a tire on the automobile, according to the detective.
Trooper C.E. Kirkpatrick arrived on the scene and smelled alcohol coming from the vehicle.
Authorities searched the car and found a straw with what appeared to be cocaine inside it, said Grindstaff.
The straw was sent to a state lab. Tests recently confirmed the substance in the straw was cocaine.
