Math is a lot easier when the student and the teacher can work together. An opportunity to ask the right question of the right teacher in the right setting can be the key to math success.
To that end, math teacher Jennifer Sprinkle invites students and parents to participate tonight in Math Night at McDowell High School.
"The math department is holding math nights throughout the year to help both parents and students," she said.
McDowell High School's math department held its first Parent-Student Math Night in October, and the event was a great success, with many turning out to ask the experts. Teachers helped students and their parents learn to access useful online help, gave an overview of different factoring methods, and touched on complex numbers. The next Math Night will be held this evening from 5:30 to 6:30. Covered topics will include math strategies for the SAT, the top-10 missed questions on college placement tests and the types of questions and problems students might expect to see on community college placement tests. There will also be guidance on and information about the College Foundation of North Carolina.
Last but not least, any math topics of the audience's choice.
