BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. - A project to produce a map with the locations of waterfalls in western North Carolina is finally finished.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Thursday that Larry Odoski produced the map after several years of giving tourists directions to the cascades. Odoski spent a year creating the map as a lightweight trail guide with photos, directions and "beauty ratings."

The 26-by-28-inch topographic map is printed on waterproof paper with the location of 301 waterfalls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gorges State Park, DuPont State Forest and Pisgah and Nantahala national forests.
