In recent volleyball action, the East McDowell Lady Trojans handled East Burke Middle School 3-1.
All four sets were closely contested. The Lady Trojans won 25-23 and 25-22 to take a two-set lead. East Burke answered in the third set, winning 25-22. East McDowell regained control, taking the fourth set 25-22 to win the match.
Leslie Rice had a game-high nine kills. Kassie Brackett had a strong outing with six kills. Kylee Lenon added five kills and one dig. Leslie Franklin had three kills. Amber Fulbright (11 assists, 2 digs, 1 kill) and Erin Mills (8 assists, 1 dig, 1 kill) also made solid contributions during the match.
West McDowell 2, Table Rock 1 (girls soccer)
The West McDowell Lady Spartans held off Table Rock 2-1 in recent soccer action.
Taliah Brittain recorded eight saves at keeper. Courtney Austin and Chelsea Rideout scored one goal each for West McDowell with assists from Chelsea Hobson and Ashley Rojas.
