The East McDowell Lady Trojans soccer team is in the midst of a three-game winning streak in Foothills Conference play, including a 2-1 victory against county rival West McDowell last week.
Hannah Lovelace and Alyssa Detwiler scored a goal each against West. Goalkeeper Victoria Nichols also proved a key component in the victory, making 10 saves.
The Lady Trojans also picked up a 5-0 win against East Burke and a 5-2 win against Liberty to improve their season record to 4-6 going into the final week of the regular season.
Detwiler scored a combined five goals against the Lady Knights and Lady Raiders. Haley Revis has added four goals during the past three matches.
East McDowell 3, Liberty 0 (volleyball)
The East McDowell Lady Trojans continued their winning ways, picking up a three-game victory (25-9, 25-8, 25-23) over Liberty.
Leslie Rice and Kassie Brackett led with six kills each. Kylee Lenon added four kills. Leslie Franklin had three kills. April Fulbright (6 assists, 3 digs, 1 kill) had a solid, all-around performance and Taylor Bailey added a kill.
The Lady Trojans improved to 8-2 in the Foothills Conference.
West McDowell 7, East Burke 2 (girls soccer)
The West McDowell Lady Spartans picked up an impressive 7-2 win against East Burke in soccer action.
Megan Morris (2 assists) led West with three goals. Courtney Austin (1 assist) chipped in two goals. Sierra Morrow and Abbey Taylor also scored a goal each and had an assist apiece.
Amber Benge and Chelsea Hobson accounted for the other Lady Spartans assists. West McDowell goalkeeper Talah Brittian recorded three saves in the contest.
