McDowell golfers improving

Another week, another round of golf, and the McDowell Lady Titans move up another spot in the finishing order among Mountain Athletic 4A/3A teams.
The Lady Titans scored a third-place finish Monday at Broadmoor in Asheville, shooting a 152 to place behind T.C. Roberson (131) and North Buncombe (148). Following the Lady Titans were A.C. Reynolds (158), Enka (161), Asheville (169) and Erwin (185).
It was the third straight week McDowell has shown improvement. The Lady Titans finished fifth in their opener, fourth last week and third this week.
Individually, Madalyn Davis led the way for McDowell, placing fifth among 28 players with a 46. Bethaney Lewis carded a 51 and Ashley Newton a 55. Caitlin Lackey also competed.
McDowell plays next Monday at Mountain Air in Burnsville.
The Lady Titans host a non-conference match Thursday, Sept. 24 at Marion Lake Club (3 p.m. start).
