An anonymous call to a car theft victim led police to a pair they say stole a truck and chopped it of all its parts.
Investigator Rick Gutierrez of the Marion Police Department charged 27-year-old Fernando Arriola Acosta of Lail Street in Marion with one count each of felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, possession of a stolen vehicle and injury to personal property. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $58,000 bond.
He also charged 32-year-old Damion Lee Gonzales of Hill Road in Marion with one count each of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods and damage to property. Gonzales was released on a written promise to appear in court.
Donald and Teresa Queen of Marion reported on Oct. 19 that their 1992 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was stolen from the parking lot of Marion Elementary School.
Two days later, an unknown caller informed Donald that his truck was possibly at a residence on Lail Street, according to reports.
Donald advised Marion police officers, who went to that location and saw the body of the Queens' pickup, said the reports. Officers found the truck's motor and transmission in the bed of a second truck at the residence occupied by Acosta.
During a search of the basement, they discovered the hood, grill, front bumper, battery, seats and door molding taken off the stolen Chevrolet, the reports stated.
