»  Comments | Post a Comment

This suspect was wired, detectives say.
Authorities have arrested a man they believe stripped a house of all its copper wiring.
Lt. Dan Shook of the McDowell County Sheriff's Office charged James Robert "J.R." Hollifield, 29, of Fairview Road in Marion with one count each of breaking and entering, larceny and injury to real property. He was taken into custody in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
Shook stated that the suspect broke into a residence under construction on Deer Park Road on Oct. 17. The home is owned by Troy Bright of Marion.
Hollifield took all the electrical wiring, stripped the coating off and sold the copper to local scrap yards, said the lieutenant.
Shook added that a tip led him to Hollifield, and the crime had not been detected until the caller phoned.
Hollifield and Bright did not know one another, Shook stated.
