Letter to the editor: With no jobs around, it's no time to raise my rent

McDowell County has the highest unemployment rate in surrounding counties.
I moved here in 2005. Businesses were booming. I went and applied for a job, and I'm telling you, I got that job within five minutes.
My point is, I live in an apartment complex and we've been here for about 3 ½ years. My living conditions are awful and I have made several complaints. I have mold in my apartment and it's been here for over a year. It's awful and it causes us terrible headaches. Another point is that we are under new management, which we have been for about a month. The managers came by to introduce themselves. It wasn't a week when our rent was raised. Please, mold? I'm unemployed and my roommate draws workers comp and supports our children.
How bad is society? I need a better understanding. Raising rent with no jobs? We were told the price of hamburger meat went up. That's wrong!
