After seven years at the helm, Autumn Care Administrator Mike Weaver is stepping down. He worked his last day Friday.
"I'll be taking over as administrator at Village Care in King, N.C.," he said.
For Weaver, the move is a homecoming. He and his wife are both originally from the small community north of Winston-Salem.
"When we moved here, we were very happy to find the people friendly and welcoming," he stated. "I have considered it a great honor to serve the elderly of McDowell. I will also remember my time working with friends I have made through Rotary and The Gideons."
Taking over as administrator at Autumn Care will be longtime Director of Nursing Tammy Wise of Nebo. She has held that position for 15 years, she said, and has worked in the long term care industry since 1985.
She recently completed her licensure requirements with the Administrator in Training Program through the N.C. Board of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators, she said.
"I look forward to this challenge," she said. "We will continue to serve the needs of the citizens of McDowell to the very best of our ability."
