The driver of a pickup truck pulled in front of another automobile on the five lane Friday, causing a crash that left four people injured.
At 6:22 p.m., Nathan Coye Wheeler, 17, of Swannanoa was driving a 1999 Ford north, when the truck pulled from a private drive and into his lane of travel. Wheeler attempted to avoid the pickup, lost control of his Ford and collided with a 2000 Jeep driven north by Craig Wesley French, 44, of Bumpy Hill Drive in Marion, according to a report by Sgt. M.S. Hensley of the Marion Police Department.
French confirmed that the pickup truck pulled out in front of Wheeler, the report stated.
Both drivers, as well as a passenger in French's vehicle, 41-year-old Deanna French of Marion, and a passenger in Wheeler's vehicle, 20-year-old Charles Bradley Washburn of Marion, were taken to The McDowell Hospital.
No charges were filed.
Damage to the Jeep was estimated at $3,000 and to the Ford $4,000.
