»  Comments | Post a Comment

Authorities continue to investigate an assault between two inmates that sent one to the hospital.

Employees at Marion Correctional Institution’s close-custody facility on Old Glenwood Road told police that a fight broke out between 25-year-old Stetson Tyler Proctor and 36-year-old Charles Shawn Schenck around 11:20 a.m. Saturday after the pair had eaten lunch.

A report by Sgt. Jamie Harklerode of the Marion Police Department said Proctor cut Schenck with an improvised razor, or a shank. He had a laceration that started on the right side of his forehead and extended vertically to his lower cheek.

Schenck was taken to Memorial Mission Hospital.

Investigative Lt. Chris Taylor of the Police Department said detectives continue to examine the case and charges are pending.

Stetson is serving a seven-year sentence for armed robbery, and Schenck is serving a 21-year habitual felon sentence.
