An Old Fort man faces multiple charges after authorities say he used his company’s credit card to buy personal items.
Detective Sgt. Rick Gutierrez of the Marion Police Department charged Gregory Aaron Beaver, 38, of Dries Drive with five counts of felony larceny by employee.
Detective Lt. Dan Shook of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office also charged Beaver with one count of felony larceny by employee.
He was released from custody on written promises to appear in court.
Brad Ford, the owner of BRS Landscaping & Stone in Rutherfordton, reported in December that someone had misused the business’ credit card.
Gutierrez stated that Beaver was given the card to purchase gas and work-related equipment whenever he needed it.
However, he used it between Dec. 22 and 25, when everyone in the company was off work.
Gutierrez added that Beaver bought items, including some Christmas presents, at Tractor Supply, CVS, M&M Supermarket, the Gas House and Walmart in Asheville and ran up a bill totaling several hundred dollars.
