ASHEVILLE – The McDowell Lady Titans junior varsity basketball team made another step toward a perfect season after dismantling A.C. Reynolds 54-14 Friday afternoon in Fairview.
After a 15-4 start in the first, McDowell erupted in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Rockets 27-1 to pull away early.
Freshman Kassie Brackett (3 assists, 3 rebounds) tallied a team-high 16 points in the blowout. Karly McRary added 10 points and three assists.
Leslie Rice (8 rebounds, 2 assists) had a strong floor game with eight points. Tamara Blanton (3 assists), Riley Smith (6 rebounds), Jessie Turbyfill and Victoria Nichols netted four points apiece.
Megan Morris chipped in three points and Erin Mills (5 rebounds) scored two points.
A.C. Reynolds 59, McDowell 57 (jayvee boys)
The McDowell Titans junior varsity basketball team fell just short 59-57 Friday afternoon in a heated battle with A.C. Reynolds.
Coleman Arrowood led the Titans in defeat with 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Point guard Raekwon Miller (7 rebounds, 2 assists) added 17 points.
Freshman Isaac Hillman tallied eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore Ryan Kincaid (4 rebounds) netted six points. Patrick McClure (6 rebounds) chipped in three. Brady Ruiz and Tyler Farmer add two points each.
Both McDowell junior varsity teams concluded their seasons Tuesday on the road at Enka. Results were not available at press time.
